Breaking Barriers scores a trip to Liverpool Football Club!
It was an exciting day for a group of Breaking Barriers clients as they travelled to Liverpool Football Club (LFC) thanks to our corporate partner Western Union.
Western Union is an official sponsor of LFC and were delighted to be able to offer a group of our clients the opportunity to attend this unique experience. Western Union also hosted a workshop which helped the clients build skills in presenting and pitching, which are essential attributes when applying and interviewing in the current competitive job market.
We kicked off the day by heading to the Melwood training ground where we met the first team squad and Liverpool Football manager Jürgen Klopp – we got signatures, scarfs and selfies before watching the players train at their home ground – this part of the day was an unforgettable experience.
It was a particularly special day for a client who has been a Liverpool fan for over eleven years and was so grateful for the opportunity to visit Anfield and meet his idols.
We then made our way to Anfield stadium where Western Union hosted a skill-building workshop which tasked clients with learning and applying presentation and communication skills to in order to promote themselves in job interviews. The workshop ended with clients preparing and delivering their elevator pitch to the group.

The day came to an end with a guided tour of the stadium, where we got to go on the pitch, take a look into the player dressing rooms and see where all the behind the pitch action takes place. On the train home, clients were reflecting on the day and sharing all of their photos with friends and family. We will continue to share with you highlights and stories from our visit to Liverpool Football Club throughout the next few months so watch this space!
