We were recently featured in the inaugural issue of shado, an important new magazine amplifying the voices of those at the frontline of social and cultural change.
We went along to the launch party which was a fantastic night filled with great food, live music and striking artworks. Mo (from Mo’s Eggs) was serving a Syrian takeaway box which included homemade lamb pastries, stuffed vine leaves, spinach pastries, salad with feta and lots of hummus. Unsurprisingly he sold out in record time! Artists including Abdulazez Dukhan, Noor and Majid Adin whose works are featured in the issue exhibited their work on the night. Toes were tapping and the crowds were swaying to live music by Syrian viola player Raghad Haddad and her Persian percussionist Farhan.
The first issue is titled, ‘Changing Perspectives: Stories of Migration to Europe’ and explores the work of those showing an alternative perspective on what has become an increasingly divisive topic: migration.
