The Queen’s Award
We are extremely proud to announce that our work has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility category.
Since our inception in 2015, we have been working tirelessly to create education, training, and employment opportunities for people of refugee background. After nearly 6 years of over 1200 clients, and over 20 partnerships and many hours of workshops and employment and education support we are extremely proud to announce that our work has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility category.
The Queen’s Award is an incredibly prestigious prize and will hopefully bring Breaking Barriers increased recognition and acknowledgement of the importance of our mission. Our CEO and founder of Breaking Barriers Matthew Powell said:

We’re grateful to the committee for believing in our work and our mission, especially as the news comes at a challenging time for refugees as they’re disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The prestige of the award will hopefully bring many more opportunities for us to work collaboratively with other organisations in the pursuit of more meaningful and sustainable job opportunities for refugees and people of refugee background.”
