Volunteer with Breaking Barriers at our new Hammersmith Centre

Do you want to help inspire someone’s life? Whilst inspiring your own?

Breaking Barriers are opening a new centre in Hammersmith, so that we can support more refugees to find employment. We are looking for Advice & Guidance Volunteers to help launch it. Could this be you?

Our team of Advice & Guidance volunteers help our inspirational refugee clients achieve their career aspirations, supporting their journey to meaningful employment.

“Seeing someone grow in confidence and surprise themselves with what they can achieve, with encouragement and guidance, is nothing short of life affirming”

– Helen, Clapham Junction Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who can bring their skills and experience of working in the UK to the role. With clients from over 50 countries, each appointment is unique: you may be working with somebody to write a CV, preparing for an upcoming interview or hunting for jobs online. This all happens in the centre during a 1:1 two-hour appointment.

At Hammersmith, you can volunteer on Wednesdays between 10am-5pm (exact times are flexible), and we look for volunteers who can commit to 3-6 months of regular volunteering. Volunteers benefit from training on supporting refugees, safeguarding and employment advice, and our experienced caseworkers provide ongoing support for volunteers.

Employment is a rewarding and valuable part of life, but over 70% of refugees in London are unemployed. At Breaking Barriers, we help refugees make a life for themselves in the UK. Join our team and apply your invaluable skills and knowledge to help inspire and change lives.
