As an Sector Specific Volunteer, you will support refugees and people from refugee backgrounds. You will help them navigate the UK job market and work towards their career goals by leading on one-to-one specialised appointments. The goal of each session is to provide targeted support and address specific goals that are within volunteer’s area of expertise.
Typical tasks include, in collaboration with clients, helping clients to get more in-depth understanding of the sector and identify routes into a specific industry whist offering practical support like CV and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and improving client’s digital skills.
It is a varied role that is suitable for those who are comfortable with supporting different client at each session using the information shared with them prior to an appointment.

Commitment
We ask for a commitment of 2-4 appointments per month for a minimum of 6 months. All our appointments are scheduled between 10:00am and 5:00pm on specific weekdays. A typical appointment is 1-1.5 hours long.

This is remote opportunity where sessions are organised via MS Teams with a choice of leading on in-person appointment at one of our locations:

Requirements
We are currently looking for volunteers with work experience in Accountancy, Finance, IT, Technology, Engineering, Construction and Healthcare.

- Experience of working in the UK
- Knowledge of UK job market and recruitment processes
- Experience or interest in helping with CVs, cover letters, and job applications
- Can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to act with compassion, adapt your approach to suit clients and the ability to put people at ease
- Reliability, flexibility and problem-solving skills
- Basic IT skills and access to a laptop or computer with webcam
- Alignment with BB’s mission to help refugees acquire the knowledge, confidence and experience to get stable, fulfilling employment
