The 2024-25 financial year was momentous for Breaking Barriers, marking a significant milestone in our history: the 10th anniversary since the launch of our mission to support refugees into meaningful employment.

Since 2015, we have helped 3,848 refugees and sanctuary seekers on their employment journeys and celebrated a total of 3,540 times as our clients have achieved positive outcomes in employment, education and volunteering. We’ve also been pleased to collaborate with 74 corporate partners to run 279 group recruitment and skills session for refugees looking to enter the job market.

2024-25 also saw us take the exciting step of integrating RefuAid’s award-winning Language and Re-accreditation Programmes into our service offering. Together, our Employability, Language and Re-accreditation Programmes allowed us to support 1,450 clients. This is the highest number of people who’ve been able to access our help in any single year to date – marking 2024-25 as a record-breaking year.

Beyond our organisation, the shifting political and economic climate also presented new challenges and opportunities. We refreshed our Theory of Change and began redesigning our service model to meet growing need in a sustainable way, with sharper ambitions to reach more people in more places across the UK.

This Annual Report is a longer version of our Impact Report and includes a deeper look into our achievements, our Trustees’ report and financial statements for the year ended 31 May 2025.
