The 2024-25 financial year was momentous for Breaking Barriers, with the integration of RefuAid’s Language and Re-accreditation Programmes into our service offering. This strengthened our employment expertise, expanded our geographic reach, and improved the support landscape for refugees.

Thanks to the determination of our clients, dedication of our teams, and the support of our volunteers, partners and donors, 2024-25 was also a record-breaking year for us.

Together, our Employability, Language and Re-accreditation Programmes allowed us to support 1,450 clients. This is the highest number of people who’ve been able to access our support in any year to date and marks a 16% increase on the total number of clients supported in 2023-24.

Our clients also achieved more outcomes in employment, education and volunteering than ever before – 904 to be exact, which is a 27% increase on the previous financial year.

2024-25 also marked a significant milestone in our history: the 10th anniversary of the launch of our mission to support refugees into meaningful employment. And of our evolution from an ambitious start-up to a national charity.

Since 2015, we have supported 3,848 refugees and asylum seekers on their employment journeys and celebrated a total of 3,540 times as our clients have achieved positive outcomes in employment, education and volunteering. We’ve also been pleased to collaborate with 74 corporate partners to run 279 group recruitment and skills session for refugees looking to enter the job market. On our 10th anniversary, we marked these successes by launching the Breaking Barriers, Building Futures campaign. It featured 10 of our clients, reflecting on their journey to meaningful employment, and insights and highlights from 10 partners and long-term supporters.

A huge thank you to our staff, funders, partners and supporters who have been part of our journey so far. You made a huge impact for so many skilled, talented refugees who simply need the right support to overcome the barriers to meaningful employment.
