We’re proud to work with incredible partners who share our commitment to supporting refugees to build meaningful and sustainable careers in the UK. One of our impactful partnerships is with the CIPD Trust. Its dedication to opening doors for refugees through professional development and mentoring has transformed lives.
Our journey with the CIPD Trust started when our Re-accreditation Programme was still under RefuAid. Since then, we’ve run numerous mentoring cohorts, connecting refugee professionals – many of whom have backgrounds in HR, learning and development, and management in their home countries – with experienced volunteers from the UK’s people profession. These mentoring partnerships go beyond sector-specific guidance. They provide a vital sense of encouragement, helping our clients believe that rebuilding their careers in the UK is possible.
But the support doesn’t stop there. The CIPD Trust also offers full bursaries for our clients to study CIPD Level 3 and 5 qualifications. These certifications are essential for HR and related roles, and for our clients facing financial barriers, having access to funded study opportunities can be life changing. With these qualifications, our clients can showcase their expertise and gain the credentials needed to re-enter their profession at a level that reflects their expertise.
Beyond supporting our clients, the CIPD Trust is also working to create broader change. Its recently published “Hiring Refugees: A Guide for Employers” is a fantastic resource that gives organisations practical advice on making their recruitment processes more inclusive for refugee talent. This guide is crucial in tackling systemic barriers and ensuring more inclusive hiring practices across the UK.
As part of our shared ambition, Breaking Barriers and the CIPD Trust are working to ensure that refugees can rebuild their careers and futures, with dignity, recognition, and hope.
As we continue to grow this partnership, we’re incredibly grateful to the CIPD Trust and their fantastic volunteers who give their time, knowledge, and kindness to support refugee professionals.
