We work with businesses from a wide range of industries. Many of our partners offer workshops, mentoring and work experience opportunities so that you can build your employability skills.
Workshops
Employees who work for our corporate partners volunteer their time to design workshops so that you can build your employability skills. Topics include:
- Presentation skills
- Creating a great CV
- Interview techniques
- Business communication skills and etiquette
- Customer service
- How to get into specific sectors, such as law and finance
At these workshops you can hear from experts at our partner organisations, learn new skills, and meet new people. If you have Instagram, you can see what happens at a typical workshop – view the ‘workshop’ highlights on our profile.
Mentoring
If you have specific goals that you would like to achieve, we might be able to find a volunteer mentor for you. This could cover anything from going to university for the first time, to a career change.
On-the-job experience
Our partnerships with businesses can include opportunities for short work experience opportunities or the chance to shadow someone for a day.
When available, you might also be able to complete a 6-month paid work placement through our Academy programme. Through these placements, you will gain valuable experience of working for a UK business, you’ll expand your network and learn lots of new skills.
I attended a lot of workshops which helped me with interview techniques and how to deal with stress. These workshops were helpful for me and I made a lot of networks during these workshops.
I am now working in a global company who sponsored a lot of the workshops that I attended. When I went for the interview, I knew the staff member who welcomed me from one of workshops. As a result, I was relaxed in the interview and I got the job!
