Breaking Barriers is a charity that I set up seven years ago to support refugees to find meaningful employment.

We have gone from working out of my parents’ living room to a charity that’s supported 1,000s of refugees into meaningful employment, education, training and volunteering.

The charity is unrecognisable from the early days, but there are two things that have consistently remained the same.

Firstly, the determination I see every day from refugees who want to build a new life and make important contributions to UK society.

Secondly, that refugees face huge barriers to employment. They are four times more likely to be unemployed, and they are left to face many barriers alone. This is wrong. And it’s the problem you can help us to solve.

We welcome refugees into work with one-to-one employment advice and guidance, education, and training. However, sometimes to get a job refugees need an extra hand with costs. For example, a qualification, exams, professional memberships, driving lessons etc.

That’s where our grants come in. Our grants are a simple and effective way to remove a big barrier, but the cost-of-living crisis means they are more in demand than ever before.

We need your help to fill the pot.

You can help refugees take an important step towards a new career and a new life by donating to our grants today.

The best part is that we’re taking part in the Big Give, which means that if you donate between 29 November and 6 December your donation will be DOUBLED, until we reach our target of £40,000!

If you can donate, now is the time to do it.
