Ukraine conflict – a message from Breaking Barriers
We’re deeply distressed by the situation in Ukraine and our hearts go out to its citizens who, confronted with the immediate threat of war, have no choice but to flee, leaving behind their country, their homes, their livelihoods, and even their loved ones.
We’re deeply distressed by the situation in Ukraine and our hearts go out to its citizens who, confronted with the immediate threat of war, have no choice but to flee, leaving behind their country, their homes, their livelihoods, and even their loved ones in some instances.
Millions of innocent civilians’ face being displaced by this war, and we stand with our colleagues across the sector in urging the Government to open-up more safe and legal routes to the UK for those affected.
We know that for some of our community this humanitarian crisis will be personal, both for those who have family and friends in Ukraine and for those who it triggers painful past trauma.
There’s much that is unknown right now, but Breaking Barriers exists to support refugees and people of refugee background who have no choice but to rebuild their lives in the UK, and we’ll be there as and when we’re needed.
The Breaking Barriers team.
