Advice and guidance volunteer
Lead 1:1 advice and guidance appointments with refugees, helping them navigate the UK job market and achieve their career goals.
We have a wide range of in-person and remote volunteer opportunities across Birmingham, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Liverpool and London. Some roles require specific qualifications (such as teaching), but the majority are roles that anyone could help with. If you are motivated to be involved in your community and support people of refugee background, come and get involved!

Become a volunteerLead 1:1 advice and guidance appointments with refugees, helping them navigate the UK job market and achieve their career goals.
Help refugees to fill the gaps in their understanding of key digital skills and how to go online in a safe and legal way.
Join our education programme and provide English speaking, reading and writing support, as well as helping refugees prepare for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.
Work closely with staff, either in person or remotely, on ‘behind the scenes’ projects and tasks that are vital to Breaking Barriers.
A six-month mentorship with a refugee who is experiencing under-employment. Mentors and mentees are matched based on common professional sectors of interest/experience and work together towards clients’ long-term employment goals.
Help refugees build a strong base of employment and job-related knowledge, so they can go into the job market with confidence and increased independence.
Attend in-person/remote appointments to support refugees with lower levels of English to receive our full support. Or translate crucial documents into different languages.
