You will work closely with staff, either in person or remotely, on ‘behind the scenes’ projects and tasks that are vital to Breaking Barriers. This role will vary depending on the projects that are available in Birmingham, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Liverpool or London, and your professional background.

I would recommend volunteering at Breaking Barriers to anyone as it is incredibly rewarding. Sometimes it is difficult to feel that you are making a difference in the world, but Breaking Barriers certainly do their part.

Eiman - translator/interpreter

Key Responsibilities

These will vary depending on the project but can range from administrative tasks to project development and consulting at a senior level.


Requirements 

  • Computer literate and access to a laptop or computer with webcam
  • Fluent/native level of English
  • Organisational skills, teamwork and reliability
  • Clear communication skills
  • Alignment with our mission to help refugees acquire the knowledge, confidence and experience to get meaningful employment
  • Beneficial: language skills (including Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Tigrinya, Amharic, Somali, Pashto, Tamil etc).

Commitment 

Roles are ad-hoc and will vary depending on the project, but a typical commitment is 4-8 hours per week for 3 months.

This role can be remote and/or at one of our offices:

  • Birmingham: Landmark, 2 Snow Hill Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6GA
